Choosing your Maui snorkeling boat is a fun decision to make, and a boat tour on the Calypso is one of the most fun! The high-speed triple-decker catamaran will drive you to two snorkel sites: Molokini Crater and Turtle Town. It is the biggest boat moored in Ma’alaea Harbor, and arguably one of the smoothest rides on Maui. Your boat leaves from Ma’alaea Harbor. As you come aboard in the morning, you’ll meet your friendly crew and take a look at the delicious, hearty breakfast they’ve laid out for you. After you are settled in, it’s off to Molokini – From December through April, be sure to keep an eye out for the magnificent humpback whales! Molokini Crater rises from the ocean floor between the islands of Maui and Kaho’olawe. This amazing site is not only home to several fish species, but many species of birds, as well! The crater is a bird preserve and Marine Life Conservation District. It’s a no-fishing/no-climbing zone, but wearing flippers and a mask to watch the fish is perfectly fine (actually, it’s incredible!). This underwater bowl shelters a huge reef where the visibility can be over 100 feet! All colors of the fish cruise by as you float above. While you are exploring your Molokini snorkel, there is a chance you’ll see spotted eagle rays, eels, and jacks. . The crew will make sure you are instructed in the use of their snorkel equipment. The boat is fully stocked with comfortable flotation devices, rentable wetsuits to keep you warm, and prescription masks for those of us who wear glasses. Plus, there are awesome underwater cameras available for rent, as well. When was the last time you took a selfie with a humuhumu’ele’ele (black triggerfish)? And if you are already familiar with Maui snorkeling, and you would like to go a step deeper, Calypso has scuba available, too! You can spend a lot more time hanging with the fishes when you are accompanied by a guide and attached by a 10-foot air tube to a tank floating on the surface. No experience is required. Whether you swim, snorkel, or scuba, the boat’s underwater photographer will be on hand to capture that perfect shot of you and your group. Wide staircases are lowered right into the water, making it simple and low-stress to find your way to the fish. If you prefer a more thrilling ocean entry than walking down a flight of stairs, Calypso provides two water slides and a jumping-off platform for your delight! And just so you know, Calypso is also equipped with restrooms and freshwater showers for rinsing off the saltwater. For those who would rather not partake in Maui snorkeling, Calypso has four glass panels in the bottom of the boat! This means everyone in the family will be able to see parts of the coral reef and to watch the fish. After the Molokini snorkeling, Calypso will also take you to Turtle Town — a second awesome snorkeling spot. Off the south side of Maui, Turtle Town is home to several sea turtles as well as lots of amazing reef fish. A barbecue lunch with vegetarian options will be served at this time, and water, sodas, and juice are available all day long. On the way back to the harbor, you’ll swing by La Perouse along the southern coast. Keep your eyes peeled for the Hawaiian spinner dolphins who spend time in this bay. And just when you thought the day couldn’t get any better, the crew will come around with chocolate chip cookies! Oh, yeah! All snorkel spots are visited weather permitting. If Molokini snorkeling conditions are less than ideal, Coral Gardens off the west side of Maui is usually the Captain’s next choice.

  • 12:30 PM Transfer back to Ma’laea Harbor.
  • 12:45 PM Transfer back to the hotel.
  • 1:15 PM Arrive at the hotel and enjoy some free time.

Day 4

Summary: Today you will go on an amazing helicopter tour around the island of Maui. Every two hours, transportation will be provided from the hotel to the helicopter for groups of six.

Timeline:

  • 7:00 AM The Air Maui Circle Island Flight.

Transportation from the hotel to the helicopter is 40 minutes. The tour itself is about one hour. The first group will go at 7:00 AM and you will have free time before/after your group’s turn. If you are looking for a great way to experience the entire island while relaxing, the Air Maui circle island tour is the way to go. The island of Maui boasts one of the most beautiful and varied landscapes on Earth. As you watch ocean waves caress golden sands and beat against sea cliffs, the attraction to the island is obvious. People come from all over the world just to stand on this piece of geologic history, to feel the lava rock that makes up the land, and to see what shapes the people. Maui is a symphony composed of rolling hills and deep gorges, crashing waves and coral reefs, and—at the 10,023-foot peak of Haleakala Crater—enormous ash and cinder cones. Helicopter tours on Maui can play the symphony for you in its entirety. Waterfalls too risky to climb are easily accessed by your pilot, who is mindful of your safety and knowledgeable in location and lore. You will feel as though you can reach out and touch the plants, the mountain peaks, and the clear rainwater streaming down the lava cliffs. Air Maui’s experienced helicopter pilots double as your tour guides. You can hear the pilot speak, but the pilot cannot hear you, so you have the chance to sit back and enjoy yourself. The pilot gives just the right amount of information and then keeps quiet, allowing you to forge a personal connection with your fantastic surroundings below. As you absorb the scenery, you will hear about all kinds of things, from Hawaiian history and geography to botany, biology, and legend. Video cameras mounted on the outside of the helicopter record the scenery, musical soundtrack, and everything the pilot says. Important Info: • All riders will be weighed and must have ID upon check-in. • Children under two free in lap. All passengers over 2 must-have tickets. • Riders over 240 lbs will be required to pay for comfort seating according to FAA laws. • No scuba 24 hours prior to flight.

  • 5:45 PM Walk from the hotel to a luau dinner (short 5 minute walk).
  • 6:00 PM Luau Dinner.

The Royal Lahaina Luau is fun for the whole family. The backdrop for this longest-running Maui luau is incredible. Watch the sunset into the Pacific at the world-famous Kaanapali Beach! A shell lei greeting begins your evening. Then, you’ll gather around the underground oven (imu) for the traditional unwrapping of the pig. See spellbinding performances from Samoa, Tahiti, Hawaii, and New Zealand. Each song and dance is presented with beauty and authenticity. The master of ceremonies guides the night of dancers, live Hawaiian musicians, and a spectacular fire knife dancer! You’ll experience beating drums, flaming torches, and rhythmic movement and chants. And we haven’t even mentioned the food! The Royal Lahaina Luau menu offers a vast array of delicacies and desserts. It includes pork, chicken, fish, beef, vegetables, rice, salad, and other favorites. Several vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are part of the buffet. An open bar is included in the package. Drinks include cocktails, beer, wine, soft drinks, fruit punch, coffee, and tea. “But what about the kids’ appetites?” you may be asking. Lucky for you, this is the only luau on Maui that offers a kids’ menu. The children will enjoy chicken nuggets, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, and potato chips! You can upgrade your tickets to preferred first-row seating. This also puts you first in line at the buffet. Children are invited onto the stage to learn the hula. This moment provides a great photo opportunity for their parents. The Royal Lahaina Luau ends with a fantastic fire knife dance finale! Dancers will meet with guests after the show for more photo opportunities. After the end of the incredible performance, you’ll have enchanting luau memories to cherish for years to come. Royal Lahaina Luau—nothing better.
