Day 1

Day 2

  • 7:30 AM Transfer from hotel to Poas Volcano.
  • 9:00 AM Arrive at Poas Volcano.

Poas Volcano is one of the most popular active volcanoes in Costa Rica. The volcano is in the Central Valley of Costa Rica near the capital, San Jose (approximately an hour and a half). The amazingly dense forest park that surrounds the two craters makes it an oasis close to the city! Volcan Poas has one of the largest active craters in the world. The crater lake measures over a mile wide and over 900 feet deep. There are two crater lakes near the summit of Poas. The National Park consists of nearly 15,000 acres that encompass at least four different habitats.

Tortuguero is a village on the Northern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica in the Limón Province. The small village, which can be reached only by boat or airplane, is sustained almost entirely by eco-tourism. The population is estimated at around 1200-1500.

Day 3

Meet at the Laguna Lodge dock for this two hour tour. Tortuguero National Park is an ecotourist’s dream located on the northeast Caribbean coast. The stunning National Park protects one of the largest remaining areas of tropical rainforest in Central America. The park offers vast, protected beaches from which you can enjoy endless vistas of the stunning Caribbean Sea. The most popular activities in Tortuguero include visiting Tortuguero village and taking a boat ride through the Tortuguero canals.

  • 10:45 AM Check out of hotel and meet at dock for a boat transfer from the hotel to La Pavona.
  • 12:15 PM Arrive at La Pavona.
  • 12:30 PM Transfer from La Pavona to local restaurant.
  • 1:45 PM Arrive at El Yugo Restaurant (or similar) for lunch.
  • 2:45 PM Transfer from restaurant to La Fortuna.
  • 4:30 PM Arrive in La Fortuna and check into hotel.

Day 4

Summary: Make sure to bring your sunscreen!

  • 8:00 AM Transfer from the hotel to Sky Adventure.
  • 8:30 AM Arrive at Sky Adventure.

Spend two hours having fun! Sky Adventure includes a zipline, aerotram, and skywalk (hanging bridges in the forest).

  • 10:30 AM Transfer from Sky Adventure to Tenorio Volcano National Park.
  • 12:00 PM Celestial Waterfall Hike in the Tenorio Volcano National Park.

This hike will last about one hour and 30 minutes. Locals tell the story of a river turning blue when God dipped his brush in its waters while he was painting the sky. Even though we understand the science behind it now, it doesn’t diminish its magic one bit. Rio Celeste is a river of brilliant turquoise waters that ends in a breathtaking waterfall.

Day 5

Day 6

  • 8:00 AM Arrive for ATV Tour.

Palo Verde National Park was declared a wildlife refuge during the 1970s because over 60 species of birds used the laguna, or wetland, as a migratory stop. There were once 35,000 black bellied whistling ducks, 25,000 blue winged teal, and several hundred migrating ducks during the dry season.[3] Later the park was declared a national park and operated under the government agency MINAE (Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications). In the 1990s, the park was put on the Ramsar list of wetlands of international importance and also on the Montreux Record.

  • 3:00 PM Transfer from El Viejo Wetlands to La Casona.
  • 3:50 PM Arrive at La Casona for Sugarcane and Rum Tour.

Here, we tour the sugarcane fields and have the change to make our own rum flavors.

Day 7

Summary: Get some time to yourself to see Tamarindo and end the day with a beautiful sunset.

Your vacation is not complete without perusing the local markets and checking artisan wares. Tamarindo has a wide selection of crafts and souvenirs, many handmade by Tamarindo artists. There are plenty of stores that sell beach wear, as well as surfboards, T-shirts, sandals and more. All along the main street of Tamarindo you will find lots and lots of boutiques and gift shops. Tamarindo does not have chain retail stores, and the shops are small and personally owned which makes for an eclectic assortment of art and souvenirs. For this activity you will have a guide and private transportation available, they can help you in anything you need. There will be one departure from the hotel and one departure for the return to the hotel. You have time to enjoy Tamarindo to go shopping or just relax at the beach.

  • 1:30 PM Arrive at Catamaran for Sunset Tour.

Day 8
